Mailing a Recording
You can mail DECsound recordings using DECwindows Mail.
In this lesson, you create a DECsound recording and mail it
to yourself using DECwindows Mail, as follows:
1. If you are not currently running DECwindows Mail, start
a session by choosing Mail from the Applications menu
of the Session Manager or FileView, or by entering the
following command:
$ RUN SYS$SYSTEM:DECW$MAIL
2. Click on the Create-Send button in the main DECwindows
Mail window.
DECwindows Mail opens a Create-Send window and
opens a new DECsound window if you have specified
DECsound as the default editor.
Note
If you have not specified DECsound as the default
mail editor, choose DECsound from the Change Editor
menu in the Create-Send window. This is described
in the help topic calledSpecifying DECsound as
the Default Editor .
3. Enter your user name in the To: text entry box and enter
the words ``DECsound test message'' in the Subject: text
entry box of the Create-Send window.
4. Click on the new DECsound window and create the
recording.
When you have finished, click on the Save button in the
new DECsound window to save the recording, then click
on the Exit button to remove the new DECsound window.
5. Click on Send in the Create-Send window.
DECwindows Mail sends a mail message that contains
the DECsound recording. Your workstation emits a beep
when DECwindows Mail delivers the message.
6. Click on the Receive Mail button in the main
DECwindows Mail window to see a list of your unread
mail messages.
7. Double click on the message whose subject is ``DECsound
test message.''
DECwindows Mail displays a Read window. The Read
window displays the following icon:
Click on this icon to play back the DECsound recording.
