You use the VAX Common Data Dictionary's Verify/Fix Utility (CDDV) to
  verify the condition of DMU dictionary files, fix corrupted DMU
  dictionary files, and compress DMU dictionary files to improve
  performance.  For more information about CDDV, type:

  $ RUN SYS$SYSTEM:CDDV

  At the CDDV> prompt, type HELP.
